Hebrews
Hebrews (c.80–90 CE) is a theological treatise (anonymous author) presenting Jesus as supreme. It argues that Jesus is the ultimate High Priest and divine Son, greater than angels and Old Testament mediators. The letter encourages believers to persevere in faith, viewing Christ’s sacrifice as surpassing earlier covenants.
Author: Authorship unknown (traditionally ascribed to Paul, but the Greek style suggests another author).
Date Written: Circa 80–90 CE.
Context: Addressed to Jewish Christians (possibly in Rome or Jerusalem) under pressure to revert to Judaism, Hebrews reinterprets Jewish worship (Temple, Law) in light of Christ’s fulfillment of scripture.
