Zephaniah warns of the coming "Day of the Lord" which will bring judgment on Judah’s idolatry but also promises restoration for the faithful remnant.

Author: Traditionally Zephaniah (a Judean royal).

Date Written: Early 7th century BCE, during King Josiah’s reign (c.640–625 BCE).

Context: Prophesying before the Babylonian exile, Zephaniah addresses societal corruption and religious infidelity. His book anticipates purifying judgment that paved the way for Josiah’s reforms.
