A critical edition of the Greek New Testament compiled by Constantin von Tischendorf, based on the earliest available manuscripts, including the Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus.
Includes a detailed critical apparatus with extensive citations of manuscripts, ancient versions, and patristic evidence.
Developed in the 19th century as part of the effort to reconstruct the original text of the New Testament using the oldest manuscripts, contrasting with the Textus Receptus based on later manuscripts.
Tischendorf published multiple editions, with the 8th edition (1869-1872) being the most comprehensive, incorporating his discovery of the Codex Sinaiticus in 1859.
Used as the basis for several Bible translations, including the Louis Segond 1910, and influenced the development of later critical editions such as the Nestle-Aland.
Highly regarded for its use of early manuscripts, it laid the foundation for modern critical texts of the New Testament. However, some of its readings have been refined with subsequent manuscript discoveries.
